Advice and fact sheets on a range of special educational needs: At a conference on SEN Barry Carpenter discussed the range of causes of ADHD and autism, beyond genetic causes, particularly premature birth and foetal alcohol spectrum disorder. He pointed out that as medical science gets ever more efficient babies are surviving earlier premature births and with more complex conditions. this means that as educators we need to be more and more aware of a range of conditions and the causes, and to develop pedagogy to address the needs of individuals. He directed us to this website http://complexld.ssatrust.org.uk/project-resources/cldd-briefing-packs.html which has a range of resources and advice sheets that aim to help practitioners working with children. They are well worth downloading.
