I am passionate about fostering young people’s active and creative engagement in learning and participation and in fostering and developing independent learning and enquiry skills and active citizenship in its widest sense, in order to ensure the best possible progression opportunities are available to each young person, whatever their background or ability.
My experience as a a dynamic, creative, teacher, trainer and project manager with a specialism in the arts, inclusion and curriculum development has enabled me to work with state schools at all key stages, independent education providers, voluntary sector organisations, FE and HE providers and to engage with some inspirational students, education practioners and youth workers.
I am an accredited Arts Award adviser trainer, with five years experience in the development and delivery of the Arts Award and other portfolio based qualifications, such as The Project and Personal and Social Development qualifications. I am also an experienced teacher trainer in the field of dance in the primary school, have managed many arts education projects with voluntary sector organisations raising significant sums of money towards their delivery.
I have led on the development of 14-19 programmes and strategies such as the 14-19 diplomas, Foundation Learning and Raising the Participation Age and have also also managed the Education other than at Schools service [EOTAS] assessing the education requirements of new arrivals, those with complex needs and excluded students and brokering suitable alternative education provision. To ensure that the alternative education programmes meet Ofsted quality standards I have developed and managed quality assurance processes for providers and implemented a programme of support and training.
